Are you interested in fishing for sport or just casting your reel with a few buddies on the weekends? Are you unsure of the right bait to use? The world is full of different types of fishing bait, whether natural or artificial, and the type of bait you use depends on what time of the year it is, your environment, and also which type of fish you're pursuing.
Either natural or artificial bait will work. Natural bait is more likely live bait, such as worms, grasshoppers, flies, crab, and shrimp. You can find these at any local tackle store, or even better, some of them are in your own yard. Artificial bait is plastic or man-made. Some artificial bait is simply a plastic replica of real bait, making it convincing. There are newer models with light radars that attract even
the smartest of fish. Technology has come a long way since fishing began with sticks, strings and worms.
Freshwater fish (i.e. barbs, cichlids, livebearers) take best to shellfish, yellowtail, bread, steak, liver, and cheese. For your saltwater fish (i.e. red fish, spotted sea trout, tarpon), use just about anything. The best part about these fish is that you can fish for them pretty much any time of the year and they're not at all picky about their meal. For those bass lovers, recent competition polls show artificial lures work the best. New lures on the market are maverick worms, muskie pike, and ms. slammers, which are rated the number one nighttime swim bait. There are so many types of bait to choose from that you're sure to find one that fits your needs. Good luck and good fishing!
