California has a lot of great fishing, from the rivers, streams, and lakes for inland fishing, to the coastline and the Pacific Ocean for saltwater fishing. Here are a few places that are good for catching fish.
For some freshwater fishing there are places like Mount Baldy Trout Pools. They do not require a fishing license and trout caught there have been as large as 18 inches. Big Bear Lake is another good lake for trout, catfish and bass. This lake is in Big Bear, California, in the San Bernardino Mountains. Lake Hodges in Escondido, California is a great bass lake, and is located at 20102 Lake Drive off of Via Rancho Parkway. Lake Murray Community Park is another great lake for catching crappie, trout, catfish and bass. This lake is at 5540 Kiowa Drive off of Lake Murray Blvd in La Mesa, California.
Now let us head to the coast to find some saltwater fishing areas. California has many piers and most you do not need a fishing license. Here is a list of some of the piers: Goleta Pier, Balboa Pier, Oceanside Pier, Fort Baker Pier, Huntington Pier, Pacifica Pier, and Shelter Island Pier. Most of them have bait shops on them and a few even have restaurants.
California offers a lot of deep sea fishing guides where you can try your luck at catching a 200 pound tuna. Most of the guide services will be able to set you up with everything you will need to fish. All you need to do now is go out there and try to catch yourself some dinner.
