Salt Water Fishing and Freshwater Fishing

There are two types of fishing that anyone can do, saltwater and freshwater fishing. The difference between the two types of fishing is the size of the equipment used. Saltwater rigs have heavy duty line and heavy duty rods. A saltwater reel is composed of stainless steel, that way it can be used in saltwater without being damaged. Heavy duty gears, with tons of ball bearings are associated with saltwater fishing. The size of the reel is definitely bigger than freshwater reels.

Freshwater fishing goers use a spinner reel and angling rod (fly rod), which is different from the saltwater fishing reels and rods. The saltwater rods are used in a different environment and needs stainless steel to help it last longer. Freshwater rods are a great deal lighter and thinner, while the saltwater rods are thicker and heavier. Saltwater rods are like this because you are fishing in the ocean, which can be a lot stronger and deeper than freshwater lakes.

This difference also means that you need two different kinds of boats. For the freshwater, you will be using a smaller, suitable boat. In the ocean, you will need a bigger boat that has two engines, because you do not want to break down in the middle of the ocean. More safety gear is needed for the ocean also. The fish are also different between the two water types. Marlin and swordfish are examples of fish you will find in the ocean and salmon and bluegill will be found in fresh waters.
